I remember school and I pretty much remember it as that. I mean from my own experience.
I sent my kids to school and I pretty much remember it as that. I mean from their experience and from me being a parent watching what was expected.
I am now watching my grandchildren in the same rut.
That is three generations of people who did not fit in, who questioned the system. So far the two generations have exceeded the norm and proved all the teachers wrong in their evaluations of what was to come. We weren’t liked because we were not pliable and dutiful. It is not that we were rude or disrespectful, we just asked lots of questions and challenged the status quo.
I am not sure that we should be looking to the current educational system as the model best suited to teach our children. At some point we are going to have to admit that it is not working and figure a better way.
I am wondering what it is going to take for us to admit that.
