“Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such.”  Henry Miller

TFFT I Am Strong Enough to Believe in Me.

I've come to trust

It is not about trusting anything or anyone other than my own purpose and my ability to take what life throws at me and use it for advancement and not let it defeat me.

Some people excuse everything awful that comes at you by claiming it was what was meant to be, like we deserve tragedy or needed it.  Some people use this idea to excuse the bad behaviour of other people as if they were doing you a favour by backing up the bus and taking another go at you once they drove over you in the first place.  We all have choices and just because I lived after life or someone threw me off a cliff does not mean it was meant to be or that they are excused.  It just means that I choose to move forward. “If I have harmed anyone, in any way, either knowingly or unknowingly through my own confusions, I ask forgiveness.

If anyone has harmed me, in any way, either knowingly or unknowingly through their own confusions, I forgive them.

And if there is a situation I am not yet ready to forgive, I forgive myself for that

For all the ways that I harm myself, negate, doubt, belittle myself, judge or be unkind to myself through my own confusions, I forgive myself.”   Buddhist Prayer

Too Much … When People Break.

too much

You know, we live in a world where people are being pushed to the limits with finances, health issues, child rearing, relationships, world events, wars, natural disasters …. people are suffering.

The worst thing we can do is shut ourselves in , shut-up, and shut the world and people out of our lives. Now more than ever we need to get out of ourselves, to look around at what is going on … to listen with compassion and care to those people who are trying to hang on by the skin of their fingernails …. and to be a moments refuge from an angry winters day. Snowball’s Own Private Hell.

My children grew up thinking I knew everything because I came from the farm.  It is an easy mistake to make, people frequently turn to farmers for answers, knowing that we are wise in the ways of the wheat and the cow.  Sometimes I wish I had been a city girl so that I could just walk the streets like normal and not be constantly sought out for my wisdom.  It is such a burden.  Like I can never ever live on the top of a mountain.

My kids would ask me, “What kind of crop is that mommy?”  They turned to me for everything.  So naturally when they saw a white cow, they asked, “What do you call a white cow mommy?

My answer? Continue reading

The Light Is Meant For All of Us.

You can say whatever you want but if your actions don’t back those words no-one is going to care. We all know what we should say. It is easy to talk about being kind to the poor and the needy when they are miles away from us and not impacting our daily lives. It is easy to champion issues everyone can agree with as wrong. It is easy to be sure we would never make the kinds of mistakes other human beings have made when we have never had to face the kind of lives they are.

Even liars and fools often know what people want to hear but the real litmus test comes in how we live our lives when no-one is looking. Are we kind to the ordinary people? Do we speak with compassion? Do we care about other people’s rights? Are we honest? Continue reading
