“But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.” George Orwell
Behold the game of words. Here is a seemingly innocuous little article about having extra “significant others” in your life because, using the theory in this article, it is unfair to expect your Significant Other (SO) to share everything you enjoy doing. The chances anyone could is just highly unlikely.
I am posting this to show how this works. Most people are just going to read the article and get on with their day. There is nothing to really respond to, nothing to cheer for or be upset about, it just appears to be more noise in a very noisy world. The article even goes out of its way to be palatable. It clearly states those extra “significant others” should be platonic. Continue reading →
Someone asked me about why I am so concerned about the shows, the comedians etc … talking about paedophilia like it is no big deal. What is the harm? It is just entertainment after all, isn’t it?
It’s a form of mind control. It is a way of steering people by putting ideas and thoughts into our consciousness so that it becomes common, acceptable, no big deal. You think you are being entertained but you are being programmed. Why do people advertise using all the forms of media? Because it works. Repetition trains our thinking – this is why education used rote for so many years to learn the alphabet, counting, multiplication tables, etc. Annoying ads are effective because we have a strong emotional reaction to them and that becomes a trigger to lead us to think of the company or product when we have need of what they are selling. We may not want to, but we cannot help ourselves.
If we have been sitting in front of a screen for some time we are in a state similar to hypnosis where the things we are hearing skip right by our conscious mind and lodge with complete acceptance into our sub-conscious. We absorb whatever is presented to us. Abhorrent things are stopped at the border of our minds. THAT is the function of our conscious mind. Each human being gets to decide for themselves what is acceptable and what is not. Most normal people, given the option of seeing a horrific image of a dead child, will choose NOT to look at it. We don’t want that image in our recall, but even when we see or hear something our intellect or beliefs reject if we are fully conscious and in control, we have the ability to filter what we hear. I am not sure why there are still so many people on this planet earth who are completely unaware of how much their day to day lives are manipulated by people with agendas that have nothing to do with looking out for our welfare.
Our minds have been systematically lulled into a state of comatose until we are nothing more than mere puppets, moving with each tug on our strings to a perfectly choreographed dance. The dance is about us doing exactly what they want us to until we have moved so far down a dark and bumpy road that we can never make our way back.
Someone bottled water and started to sell it. At first, it was all about appearing chic, a new accessory to flaunt around, like a designer bag, proving you were truly one of the beautiful people. People were recreating scenes from “The Princess and the Pea,” when they ordered water with fancy names in restaurants as if their constitutions were too delicate to drink mere tap water. Then they started carrying it around with them and now, everyone buys water when they can merely turn on the tap and get a drink and fill their own bottle. Continue reading →
We have truly slipped over the edge and the fact people are sitting there, conducting their business with their serious faces on, is damn scary. Remember when you were a kid and something happened and you started to laugh hysterically at how absurd it was and then you realized that no-one else was laughing? You stop and then try to taper off the laughter looking into the faces of everyone else who is not only NOT laughing, they are looking at you like you are crazy? Remember that?
That was my reaction to all of this.
We have jumped from individuals who are unwilling to take personal responsibility for their own lives by deflecting and focusing on what is wrong with everyone else and what they should be doing, to entire groups doing it to one another, to now world wide legislation. People we are talking about controlling our speech and our very thoughts here. This may seem helpful or some awesome movement to some idiot somewhere but the greater long term cost is going to be immeasurably damaging. Continue reading →
Teaching kids to question also means that you have to facilitate their questioning you. There are effective ways of doing that.
You begin with giving them input and options within parameters that you are comfortable with, and that allow for safety. A big part of this is following through with the consequences of those choices because learning to question, with integrity and not just to cause problems, requires critical thinking. Critical thinking, requires, among other things, that a person is able to consider the bigger picture and see beyond their immediate actions. Continue reading →
When I started Jr. High, I began a ritual that I continued until I graduated. I began class by walking in, picking up a piece of chalk and writing, “education is a farce,” on the black board. The teacher would have to begin the class by erasing what I had written.
Not a single teacher ever took me on. We did not talk about it. We did not debate it. It was written by me. Erased by the teacher. Continue reading →
