I just don’t think it is necessary for me to celebrate it by bleeding all over the place so that other women will feel more powerful. Neither do I particularly want to see other women bleed. I accept other women’s word that they bleed. I don’t need to see their underwear or their bed sheets. I don’t polygraph women I meet so that I can sort my friends into “bleeders” and “non-bleeders” and relegate the “non-bleeders” into the ineffective, powerless women pile.
We read about periods all the way back in the Bible and other texts of the time where it was the practice to have women remove themselves from the other people and go off and live in a tent until their period was over. If the Nasty Bleeder’s Movement (aka the Women’s Movement) had been involved, they would have been angry about them being segregated. They would have fought for the rights of these women to be able to powerfully bleed anywhere they wanted to, including all over the town, the people and their families. Then there would be no need for all this fuss today because we probably wouldn’t even be here. Blood contains germs that can cause serious infections and while women may have experienced euphoric episodes that could be described as powerful, they probably would have wiped out the rest of their people with some kind of plague. You know .. the heat, no big box of sanitary pads, not a lot of opportunities to bathe … that kind of thing. BUT you can’t argue that efforts to have women celebrate themselves and assert their right to equality by bleeding everywhere would have been more “fair” to the women. Who likes to have to go to a separate tent for a week or more? That seems pretty cruel. After all, apply the Nasty Bleeder’s Movement primary litmus test to the problem and they have a point. Men don’t have to do it. Go on, say it with a whine. It sounds much more realistic that way. Remember, above all else, all women want everything a man has and more. We want to bleed publicly. Is there anyone else but me that is fed up with this whole credit card fee scam that is going on right now with retailers and service providers?
I did not want a credit card. I held out as long as I could, insisting on paying cash until it became impossible to do the things I wanted/needed to do in my life without a credit card. Try booking a hotel room or a rental car without one.
So now after all the effort made to convince us that credit cards are much simpler and easier for us to use, they have reversed their position. We are being charged a fee for the extra effort they have to make to process our payment. Most of us don’t even bother with cash anymore. First, it was the ease and beauty of the credit card and then we had debit cards that directly accessed our bank accounts. A credit card can be slipped in a pocket, tucked in your bra, goes in a tiny handbag. We were free!! Once the internet happened, they created a system that made us even more dependent on our credit cards. Just enter your details and shop away. Book anything. Do it from the convenience of your home or during that wasted commuting time. We could even process transactions with other people buying our services, through our phones. Continue reading →
I saw this “article” about people with long eyelashes being healthier, happier and having more fun.
PS – they are selling “eyelash syrum” to make your eyelashes longer.
Is anyone really that gullible?
Yes, they scientifically tested people and found the only thing that made people healthier, happier, and “funner” – was the length of their eyelashes. I guess in a world hell-bent on “making” oneself more beautiful by padding their breasts and butts …. people ARE going to buy it.
It is actually an awesome idea. Think about it.
You go in for depression and the doctor prescribes you a set of false eyelashes because, according to this premise, you can even take an unhealthy, unhappy, “unfun” person and just by making their eyelashes longer -voila! – magic happens. They instantly become the life of the party. In fact, they ARE the party. I can see the psychiatric hospitals with all the patients wandering the halls with their false eyelashes on. It is official! The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders has finally waded through the sea of human emotions and responses and identified one single state of being that is considered an acceptable, healthy response to life. After centuries of ill health where people experienced everything from sadness to happiness, experiencing depression, being moved by works of art, outraged over world events, grieved at the loss of loved ones .. . after all the happiness and love, jealousy and contempt . . . there will be sanity and order and calm. With only one emotional response human beings will finally be healthy. Of course, it should come as not surprise to any of us that the winner is “being offended.”
For years it was assumed that “love” was going to be the only emotion left standing, but over the recent years people turned their back on love to dedicate their lives to taking offense at everything they possibly could, and working tirelessly to enact laws to force people to acknowledge their discomfort. How that work just exploded into a global passion , well … is nothing short of miraculous. Continue reading →
re: Akubra now using European rabbits to make their hats. http://finance.ninemsn.com.au/newsbusiness/9006273/katter-hopping-mad-over-akubra-cost-cuts THIS explains everything!! We wondered why we suddenly had so many bunnies in our yard. They should be hats NOT eating everything in our yard. Just another reason why you should never mess with nature, it messes up all the balance. BUT . . . in related news . . . next time hubby needs a new hat I will simply present him with one of the dead bunnies from our yard and he can make his own hat. Everyone should have little projects to do in their old age.
